Montrose Named Top 25 Micropolitan

Hearltland Forward puts out a report on the various micropolitans and ranks them against all kinds of economic factors. Montrose came in at 25.

Since COVID, we have definitely seen people migrating to remote working. Towns that have infrastructure to support it do well, it seems. And, people seem to have had enough of that rush hour.

It is so much nicer to sit on your porch and listen to the stream, gaze at the changing Aspens or scurry down to the river for a couple hours of trout fun.

Outdoor Recreation is listed as part of the study's criteria, and you can imagine that the Western states do well there.

Some of the key economic data for Montrose:

• 2021 Population: 48,203
• Young firm employment share: 17%
• 2020 per capita personal income: $49,726
• 2015 - 2020 employment growth: 6.4%
• 2019 - 202- annual pay growth: 25.8%

Montrose is growing. It is awesome, and we are hopeful that the growth will continue to be done thoughtfully.
